Photojournalism Week 4



Celebration of Puerto Rican and Latino Culture


PHILADELPHIA- A girl held her mother's hand as they marched in the 44th Regional Puerto Rican Day Parade, held on Sunday, Sept. 24, 2006. Music filled the streets of Center City and even Mickey Mouse paraded, waving a Puerto Rican flag. Performers, including dancers and musicians from across the tri-state area paraded down Market Street, after beginning the celebration at 21st Street and Benjamin Franklin Parkway at 11:45 a.m. A sudden rainstorm did not damper the morale of those marching or for the expected 5,000 parade-goers. The parade was televised by WPVI-TV Channel 6, Phildelphia’s ABC affiliate; which broadcasted the festivites to an estimated 60,000 viewers.





A mother and child were particpants in the Philadelphia Puerto Rican Day Parade held on Sunday, September 24th, 2006. The parade began at 21st Street and the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, then down Market Street.

"Rocky" Statue Ceremony: September 8, 2006

The bronze Rocky statue, weighs in at 2,000 pounds and is 8-foot-6-inches tall. The statue was relocated just north of the bottom of the museum steps.


Bottles of Sylvester Stallone's SLY Pure Glacial Water, were sold at the ceremony.


Fans run to try and catch a glimpse, or an autograph from Sylvester Stallone.
